🚒🔥 NMS Spotlight: MCS Alumni Lucas Wickey, Class of 2014, stopped by Ms. Wagner’s 7th grade Medical Detectives class to share what it’s like to be a firefighter and paramedic with the Middlebury Fire Dept.!
Students got hands-on with life-saving tools and even stepped inside the ambulance, which was clearly their favorite moment!!
Bonus: Ms. Wagner got to honk the horn and was beyond excited! 🚨👏

Last night the school board honored Angely Gonzales Rivera during the Middlebury Moment.

Angely arrived at Northridge as a struggling student and behind in credits. She faced many challenges at her previous school. However, since transferring to NHS, Angely has undergone a remarkable transformation. She has discovered her self-worth and is thriving academically. She has made significant progress, and with continued hard work during this new school year, we believe she will graduate with the Class of 2026! Angely was nominated by her Counselor, Mrs. Todt, and her assistant principals, Dr. Whonsetler and Mr. Highly. They have described her as a wonderful student with an unwavering work ethic and incredible determination. They stated that she has gained confidence, discovered her true potential, and is now firmly on the path to success. Angely- we are so very proud of you!

Please remember that everyone should be on the lookout for school bus stop arms. Stopping for a school bus is non-negotiable and we want to ensure the safety of our students. Two lane roads - vehicles must stop from both directions Multi-lane roads without a median - vehicles must stop from both directions. US 20 is a great example of this kind of road! Divided highways with a median - traffic going in the same direction as the bus must stop. Please do your part!!

School starts next week, and the excitement is real! We're thrilled to welcome our newly hired MCS teachers to this amazing school community. Some are brand new to the profession, while others joined us from surrounding districts because they recognize the great things already happening here and they want to be a part of making them even better. MCS is a place where great educators want to be - and we're so glad they're here!

You may have seen two MCS buses wrapped in Raider Green & Gold and wondered why.
Here’s the scoop:
When traveling out of state, Indiana code limits traditional school buses to a maximum of 200 miles round-trip beyond the state line— unless the bus has certain modifications. Because of this restriction, our district has been spending around $20,000 a year on charter buses, with parents often stepping up to help fundraise/donate additional dollars.
Now, we’re making a one-time investment to modify (and “wrap”) two buses, which lifts those beyond the state line mileage restrictions. These buses cannot be used for daily routes, but they can be used for field trips, athletic trips, and trips for academic competitions like theater, science olympiad, band, choir, and more.
The best part? We spent less to modify both buses than we typically do in a single year on charters.
So yes—it’s just two buses.
And yes—we’re saving money.
And yes—we’re doing it in style! 😎

It’s with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Rudy, one of our incredible middle school students. After eight years of courageously battling cancer, Rudy is no longer in pain, and his journey has left a lasting impact that will continue to live on.
Rudy was a light in our community. He showed us all what it means to live with faith, courage, and love. Even in the face of tremendous challenges, Rudy found the good. He smiled when others might have cried. He encouraged others when he was the one who needed support. He lived fully, with a spirit that reminded us to be present, to be kind, and to never take the gift of life for granted.
His parents have been a pillar of strength- steadily walking with Rudy every step of the way, while also lovingly lifting up his incredible younger sister, Lucy. Their example of hope and unwavering positivity has inspired us all.
Though Rudy’s life was far too short, our community is forever changed because of the way he lived- with faith, with courage and with love.
May we all strive to #LiveLikeRudy

The Northridge Science Olympiad Team's annual golf outing will be Saturday September 6th at Meadow Valley Golf Course. They are still looking for hole sponsors and golf teams. All money raised goes to support the NHS and NMS Science Olympiad Program. Science Olympiad does not charge a fee for kids to be involved and relies on this outing for funding. Thank you again for your support!
