Good morning from Northridge Middle School!

York Elementary has lots of learning going on in kindergarten!

This week begins National Social Worker Week. We want to thank all of our school social workers for their continuing support of students. This group of individuals supports students and families in an effort to help them function at their best during difficult times. We are blessed to have you helping our students!!

Science Olympiad- Congrats to NHS for earning 1st place and NMS 3rd place! Both teams will now advance to the Indiana State Finals!

Congratulations to the Heritage Intermediate School spelling bee champion, Rudy Chapman!

Today is Maintenance Worker Appreciation Day. We have the best crew of maintenance workers around! They keep our facilities looking great and operating efficiently all year long. Give them a honk if you see them out and about on campus!!

The high school Science Olympiad students came over to participate with 4th grade students for the HIS Science Club. They worked together and did an extraction of DNA in bananas. This is very cool!!!

The Northridge High School Academic Super Bowl team competed last night. Way to go Raiders!!

Mrs. Barkby's 4th grade class at Heritage Intermediate School built a powered model of the sun and earth last week. They used their VexGo kits to create the model and then created a labeled drawing of the model on paper. This is a great way to learn that garners lots of student engagement!

Mrs. Kauffman's 3rd grade class at Jefferson Elementary School spent time last week on an engineering lesson using their VexGo pieces. The objective was to create the tallest, free-standing tower in a 10-minute time period while using 10 VexGo pieces. The winner had a tower of 36 inches tall!!

The application process for new transfer students is now open!

The Northridge Dance Team is Regional Champions in both AA Pom & AA Hip Hop! They are moving on to the State Finals!

We want to thank Aria Healey and Dogworx, LLC. for their donation of a medical kit to the MCS Police Department and Raider. Aria came up with the idea of this donation after seeing Raider at York Elementary School. The MCS Police Department and Raider thank Aria and for this thoughtful donation!

Today is Bus Driver Appreciation Day! We want to thank all of our bus drivers for the work that they do every day to safely transport students to and from school, as well as extra curricular activities. Our drivers put in countless hours and are sometimes the first smiling face that a students sees in the morning or at the end of the day. They brave inclement weather conditions and work to make sure everyone arrives at their destination on time. We are truly blessed to have the bus drivers that we do. Thank you, drivers!!! MCS loves you!

The school board had the pleasure of having Middlebury Elementary School students presenting to them last evening at the school board meeting. Middlebury students teamed up with board members to show them some of the coding activities they are learning in their S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) lab. Our future is bright with these students. Way to go Middies!

Middlebury Elementary staff recently had a training session where they learned about some STEAM activities they can use with students. These are great ways that students can work on problem solving skills in a hands-on environment.

We want to wish everyone a wonderful President's Day. We will see all of our students again tomorrow!

Northridge Swimmers & Divers are 2024 Sectional Champs! Go Raiders!

Today is National School Resource Officer Day. We want to publicly thank our officers for the work that they do every day to keep students and staff safe. These officers are constantly working to make sure that MCS is a great place for everyone! Thank you, Chief Pettis, Officer Smith, and Raider!
