Good morning from Orchard View!

January is School Board Appreciation Month. We wish to recognize our board of trustees for all the work that they do to keep our school corporation running. They continually do what is best for students and are wonderful advocates for public education. Thank you Kate Hummel, Gregg Eash, Don Anderson, Mike Varner, and Caleb Mast. We are thankful for you!

January 9th is Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful MCS police department! Chief Adrian Pettis, Captain Gary Smith, and Raider work hard every day to keep students safe and build relationships. Thank you for being an integral part of our school community!

Welcome back students!!

Let's make 2024 our best year yet!

The Indiana Department of Education has released the newest graduation rates for all Indiana school districts, and we have exciting news to share!
Out of the seven high schools in Elkhart County, Northridge has achieved the highest graduation rate at 96.74%! This is the highest graduation rate in Northridge history!
We are incredibly proud of our amazing students, teachers, staff, administrators, board members, and families. This is a team victory for our community! Go Raiders!

Merry Christmas from the MCS family to yours!

MCS wishes everyone a safe, happy, and Merry Christmas!!

MCS schools had a variety of Christmas celebrations and activities going on today. These included a principal reading to classrooms, a day of play activities, food pantry walks, humane society donations, all-school assemblies, and a staff breakfast with a wonderful choral presentation. Merry Christmas!!

Our Board of Trustees would like to wish you a Merry Christmas. May your Christmas celebrations be as festive as they are!!

The first week of December this year, 50+ upperclassmen German students as well as NHS year-long exchange students had the chance to visit the Chicago Christkindlmarkt and take in the festive atmosphere. They also visited Chicago Goethe Institut and worked with docents from Germany and rounded out the trip with a tasty stop at Moser's Austrian Cafe & Bakery. Frohe Weihnachten! Merry Christmas!

For those of you who have never worked in an elementary school, we need to tell you that getting young students ready for recess is a process! We want to give a huge thank you to all of our staff who help students get ready for going outside! Your patience and kindness does not go unnoticed!

We had a few extra festive MCS employees at the Admin Center this morning!
Holiday spirit can be contagious!

Our high school band had an outstanding concert performance last evening! We are proud of the hard work that these students put in all year long. (photo credit: Mike Varner)

The NHS cafeteria is excited to debut their new vending machine! This machine will be available all day for students to grab snacks, drinks, or reimbursable meals from their lunch accounts.

The Northridge Cheer Block spoke at the school board meeting on Tuesday evening. They shared the many things that they are doing to promote school spirit. These students are our future and show that they are true leaders!

Congratulations to Kennedy Troyer of Northridge High School as one of this year’s Lilly Endowment Community Scholars in Elkhart County. Kennedy will receive four years of full tuition, fees, and up to $900 annually for books and equipment at any college or university in Indiana. We are so proud of you, Kennedy and we can’t wait to see you help make our community better!

Congratulations to Exchange Club Student of the Month, Camden Hershberger. Proud of this Raider!

Retired Northridge High School principal Mr. Drew Wood was honored at the school board meeting last night. Dr. Snyder had this to say about Mr. Wood: We are excited tonight to thank Drew Wood for the many years he spent as the building leader at Northridge High School. Drew positively impacted so many people in our community while serving as Principal at NHS for nearly a decade. I think the phrase I hear most when others talk about Drew is “kid advocate” and it’s certainly true that he always went out of his way to support our students. For health reasons, Drew needed to retire last summer, but there’s no doubt he will always be a Raider. We are honored to have Drew and his wife Heidi here tonight, and we’d like to say thank you for all you’ve done over the years for NHS and the entire Middlebury community. We appreciate you!
Thank you for your dedication to students and staff, Mr. Wood. You are a true class act!
