We are looking forward to celebrating the upcoming holidays next week as a school. One way we are celebrating is with spirit days for those that would like to join in. The York staff wishes our students and their families a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

We are so excited to watch the grinch's heart grow with all of our boxed food drive donations. Just a reminder that we can continue to make his heart grow bigger with more donations! Keep sending in those items until December 19th.

The cafeteria had an art contest for all grade levels. The winner's pieces are being displayed in the napkin holders on each table from now until the end of the school year. Congratulations to James Nannet (Mrs. Sheridan), Owen Ritsema (Mrs. Carlile), Wyatt Miller (Mrs. Howe), Brinley Aspy (Mrs. Ayres), Mae Swisher ( Mrs. Scott), Ethan Greensides (Mrs. Davies), Griffin Lehman (Mrs. Kenworthy), Mayleia Towns (Mrs. Bromley), Layton Lantzer (Ms Huys), Olivia Heign (Ms Bell), Evelyn Mock (Mrs Ritchie), and Kalliope Heffner (Mrs Nannet)!

Our Lost and Found is over flowing! Please check out these photos and if you see something that belongs to your student, send them to the office. If it is an item hanging, then send them to the cafeteria to claim it. There are two winter coats hanging in the cafeteria! Both are black Swiss Tech brand, one is size 10/12 and the other is 6/7. All items will be sent to donation before Christmas Break.

York is blessed to have many staff members, York families, businesses, and other community organizations help many of our families during this holiday season. We want to thank Rise n' Roll Bakery, Jayco, Mottville Community Church, JNKO Concrete, Raider Basketball Teams, Middlebury and Bristol Police Departments, Elkhart County Sheriff, Lisa Yoder State Farm, Bill's Collision, Wierco, and so many individuals!! We love our community! If you would like to help, there are still ornaments on the giving tree. Stop by the York office anytime between 7 - 3:30 this week.

Today your student will be bringing home a flyer and information packet for our PTO's Essenhaus fundraiser. Please take time to look it over!
We will be collecting order forms and money envelopes (with payments) on December 9th.
Item pick up will be December 19th from 2:15 - 6:00 at York.

Our lost and found reduced a little during conference nights, but we still have several unclaimed items. Please encourage your child to take a look at our lost and found if they are missing a jacket. We will have these items out for one more week and then we will find new homes for them.

Next week is school lunch week. Make sure you check out the lunch menu and plan to participate. The class with the most lunches purchased for the week will receive a movie and popsicle party the following Monday!

We still need 3 more volunteers for our upcoming JA in a day! These can be parents, grandparents, friends, co-workers. There is minimal time commitment, and it is a great opportunity to share your own personal or professional experiences. Training is provided for new volunteers, where you will learn more about JA, what to expect in the classroom and tips and tricks about the curriculum. Please consider joining us for the morning of Wednesday, October 23rd.

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to York on October 14th - 17th. Families are invited to come in on Monday, October 14th from either 2-3 or 5:30-6:30 to shop the book fair.

JA in a day is coming back to York soon. We are still in need of 5 more volunteers. If you would be interested in learning more or volunteering, please contact Courtney Hamood, hamoodc@mcsin-k12.org. Thank you for considering!

Check out the attached flyer for upcoming evening events for Cub Scouts.

Save the date for our upcoming track or treat event on October 19th!

York has been fortunate this year to host Northridge senior Kaleb Vechera for his work-based learning experience. Kaleb chose to spend his time with us instead of pursuing paid internships elsewhere, and his being here has been awesome for our kids. Whether he's leading small intervention groups, or helping teach students about good sportsmanship during recess, Kaleb brings enthusiasm and a positive attitude to everything he does. Our students have greatly enjoyed his company and the relationships he's built with them even more. We are so grateful to Northridge for this valuable program and to Kaleb for his dedication and positive influence. Thank you, Kaleb, for making a meaningful difference at York!
