The band department met with 5th grade students last week to show them the different instruments that they could learn to play if they joined band in middle school. This is always an exciting time for 5th grade students! Our music programs bring lots of enriching activities to the lives of students.

Congratulations to the Northridge Vex Robotics Team, 55760R Rubber Duckies, who competed this weekend at the Indiana State Robotics Competition, the largest state competition in the country. The Rubber Duckies are the first team to qualify for State in program history. They competed in Skills (both driver controlled and autonomous), judging interviews, and (8) qualification rounds. During qualifications they competed with different partner robots against alliances of two other robots to play the High Stakes game. While the Rubber Duckies did not move into the elimination round, they had fun and enjoyed the experience! They did receive the ENERGY Award, chosen by the judges as a team exhibiting energy throughout the event. It could be the 4,000 mini ducks they distributed throughout the weekend made a positive impact! If you visit the State Fair this summer, and come across a mini duck...

Congrats to Scott Miller of Northridge Middle School for being named the Indiana Junior High Athletic Director of the Year!

The Northridge Middle School 8th grade boys basketball teams were honored Tuesday evening during the school board meeting. This group doesn't have a win/loss record. Mr. Miller (athletic director and assistant principal) also shared that he has received compliments from other schools regarding how well these boys treat the opposing teams. Congratulations on your accomplishment as basketball players and as young men of character!

What better way to spend time waiting for the parent pick-up line than to play catch. Thank you Mr. Gaskill!

We want to give a shout-out to these two students for helping the technology department last week. They were of great assistance and displayed a servant's attitude!

Congratulations to one of Northridge's Robotics Teams, "55760R - Rubber Duckies", for qualifying for the Indiana Vex Robotics State Championship. Along with two other Northridge teams, they competed this weekend in a skills only event at Plymouth High School. Team members achieved a perfect score in the 60 second autonomous challenge along with a great score in the 60 second driver skills. They will head to the Indiana State Fairgrounds on March 21-22 to compete with 63 other high school teams in the Vex High Stakes game. This is the first time one of the NHS robotics teams has qualified for the state championship! Congratulations Raiders!!
VEX Robotics' "High Stakes" is the official game for the 2024–2025 VEX V5 Robotics Competition, engaging middle and high school teams in designing, building, and programming robots to compete in head-to-head matches. In "High Stakes," alliances of two teams aim to score points by placing rings onto various stakes on the field, with specific stakes offering higher point values. The game emphasizes strategy, innovation, and teamwork, aligning with VEX Robotics' commitment to fostering STEM skills among students.
